Topic: “Life Insurance Life Settlements”
Joe Melham started in the life insurance business in 1966 with the Franklin Life Insurance Company. In 1967 Mr. Melham was made District Manager and in 1968 was transferred to their Home Office and made Agency Manager and was later transferred to Houston, Texas as Agency Manager of Houston.
In 1971 Mr. Melham was named Director of Sales at American Bankers Life and moved to their Headquarters in Miami, Florida. His duties included recruiting and training Agency managers and Regional Sales Directors and conducting seminars throughout the United States.
During his three years at American Bankers Life he achieved an increase in the sales force of 2,175 agents and an increase in premium income from $44 million to over $100 million, which resulted in an increase in stock value from $8.20 per share to $36.00 per share.
In 1977 Mr. Melham returned to Houston and started Melham and Associates, a new agency specializing in Life & Health Insurance which he has managed to the present time.
Mr. Melham’s industry membership includes the National Association of Life Underwriters, Life Member, and is active in their various programs and 32 years of membership in the Million Dollar Round Table.
Since 2002 Mr. Melham has been giving regular seminars in Texas on the process and benefits of Life Settlements. Mr. Melham received his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 1966 and regularly attends various financial industry schools.
Mr. Melham is an active member of Rotary and a past member of The Houston Partnership. He and his wife, Natalie, are members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. Mr. Melham is a Knight in the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta and an Admiral in the Texas Navy.
