Speaker: Dr. Jon R. Taylor, Chair, Department of Political Science, St. Thomas University. Topic: "Texas Voter ID Law: Assessing the Political Implications on 2016 and Beyond"

Dr. Jon Taylor is a Professor of Political Science at the University of St. Thomas, where he also serves as Chair of the Department of Political Science and Director of the Master of Public Policy and Administration Program.  He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science (1993), M.A. in Political Science (1987), and B.A. in Political Science and History (1983), all from the University of Oklahoma.  His scholarly specializations are in Public Administration and Policy, Chinese Politics, and Houston and Texas Politics.  He is published in the fields of Public Administration and Political Science and regularly presents lectures on these subjects in China.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Taylor was fortunate enough to meet his Nebraska Cornhusker wife, Julie, on a blind date in Dallas during the summer of 1996.  For some unfathomable reason, she agreed to marry him in 1998.  They reside in Northwest Harris County where they are raising their very rambunctious six-year old son Owen.
