The Tragedy and Trial of the Boeing 737MAX: Hear from the lawyer who defended the only criminal indictment to be filed

Last year, the DOJ charged a Boeing pilot with lying to the FAA and commercial airlines in the aftermath of the Boeing 737MAX crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia in 2018 and 2019.  In March 2022, that pilot was exonerated of all charges in his trial in federal court in Fort Worth.  David Gerger – a former Kiwanian – represented the pilot and will share some of his experiences.

David is the founder of the law firm Gerger Hennessy & Martin in Houston.   He says that his biggest victory is avoiding a criminal case altogether, but he has defended some of the most significant criminal indictments in the country.  Other public cases include defending the CFO of Enron on criminal and SEC charges after the company’s bankruptcy in 2001 and defending the BP rig supervisor on charges of causing the Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Horizon blowout (he also was exonerated on all charges).  David graduated from Yale College and the University of Texas Law School and is a frequent teacher and speaker on criminal law.
