Michael Bleyzer is the founder of SigmaBleyzer, one of Eastern Europe's largest and most experienced private equity firms. Since its founding in 1994, SigmaBleyzer has focused primarily on Ukraine, investing over $1 billion and employing over 30,000 people in the country.
Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Mr. Bleyzer graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Radioelectronics with a Master of Science in digital electronics and quantum physics. Before emigrating from the Soviet Union, Mr. Bleyzer worked at several companies in Ukraine, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Mr. Bleyzer came to the U.S. in 1978, where he became an American citizen in 1986. Before launching SigmaBleyzer, he spent over fifteen years with Exxon and then with Ernst & Young in a variety of operational, management and executive positions in Texas, Louisiana and Europe.
Mr. Bleyzer is the founder of Daar Charitable Foundation, a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which was created in 2002 to support the Bleyzer family’s philanthropic efforts in Ukraine. Since the war began on February 24th, Daar has raised close to $5 million to provide humanitarian aid to the country, heavily focusing on the conflict zones.
