Special Olympics
Christina Roberts, has been an athlete with Special Olympics for the past fourteen years. She enjoys competing in Athletics, Bocce, Bowling, Equestrian and Kayaking. She is a Global Messenger for Special Olympics and a member of the Athlete Leadership Program.
In 2018 Christina was chosen to represent Texas at the Special Olympics National Games in Seattle, Washington. Competing in Athletics she brought home 2 gold medals, a bronze medal and a 4th place ribbon.
Christina was featured on KHOU 11, regarding her unique story of competitiveness and her drive to do her best when competing with Special Olympics. Along with other athletes this feature story won an Emmy Award. Subsequently, later that year, the Honorable Ted Poe of Texas, who was serving in the United States House of Representatives, submitted Christina’s story for publication in the Congressional Record in Washington D.C.
Recently she was chosen to throw out the first pitch for the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. Today, Christina enjoys competing with Special Olympics, participating in Life Bible Studies and sings in the church choir.
