Speaker: Roynell Young

Roynell Young, former Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro Cornerback, is Founder and CEO of Pro-Vision Inc., a nonprofit he had the privilege of stewarding in 1990, with a vision for providing equity for Houston’s often forgotten and overlooked communities. Mr. Young is a visionary, entrepreneur, and mentor. His life’s work is anchored to the belief that through Pro-Vision’s efforts, individuals and their communities will find economic freedom and independence.

Mr. Young enjoyed a nine-year career in the National Football League. According to Hall of Famer and Superbowl winning Coach Dick Vermeil, Former Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, “Roynell checked every box to be considered the first round draft pick for the Eagles.” Coach Vermeil stated “He has since become the number one, most complete package as a former football player and human being I have ever coached. If there was an NFL Hall of Fame category for someone who has provided opportunities and solved serious problems within our African American communities, Roynell would be the first inductee.”

Even though Pro-Vision was founded 35 years ago, it has evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem that includes Character Development, Urban Farming, Education and soon to be Housing. This is done through the mission of transforming minds, cultivating character, and building healthy communities.

Mr. Young’s life is an example of how responsible adults can make a meaningful impact on the life of a young person. His journey is one of finding your purpose and living it out. Mr. Young believes in the act of faith and in being a lifelong learner. He is always looking for himself in the young people that he serves. According to Dr. Roderick Paige, Former U.S. Secretary of Education Under President George W. Bush, “Roynell is an example of possibility and hope that uplifts and encourages perseverance. His book, Walking in the Shadow of Footsteps, A Journey of Enlightenment, is a blueprint for anyone seeking the path of their calling.”
