Speakers: Mathew Wolf

Mathew Wolf was born in Wyoming and raised in Colorado and New York City before attending the University of Houston Law School, where he graduated in 1983. Since then, he has worked for the Wolf family in their Houston office overseeing their oil & gas interests, investments in Coca Cola bottlers worldwide and the family's cattle ranch in southwest Colorado. 

Over their 66 years together, his mother and father, Erving & Joyce Wolf, would amass one of the greatest collections of American art ever assembled. The Wolf family collection included American bronzes, paintings, furniture, and decorative arts spanning from 1750 to 1950. In addition to American works of art, the collection was known for its  Chinese export porcelain and iconic pieces of jewelry.

Risher Randall and Mathew will have a conversation about collecting art and the selling of his family's collection, The Spirit of America, at Sotheby's in New York City in 2023, which consisted of 10 single owner auctions, one of the largest sales in Sotheby's history.
