Community Service & Fundraising Projects
Each year we organize a number of community service projects and charitable fundraising events. These projects range from major events to smaller outings of just a few hours. Through the Kiwanis Club of Houston, we have service opportunities to fit the schedules of every member. In serving others, we serve ourselves.
May 2018 Healing Hearts with Kiwanis Charity Golf Tournament
On Friday, May 4th members of our club and guests played in our annual golf tournament to raise money for the Texas Children's Hospital Pediatric Cardiac Center. Special thanks goes to all of our sponsors especially Mustang Cat and the Tucker family for offering their Sand Hill Golf Course for this charity event. Thank you to our event chair Mark Sweet and all our volunteers for organizing and promoting this event. We hope to see you all out there next year!
November 2017 Casa De Esperanza
On Wednesday, November 15th members of our club visited Casa De Esperanza (www.casahope.org) to play with the children and drop off meals. Casa is a Houston nonprofit organization that provides temporary care of children that are victims of abuse and neglect. Thank you to Randalls (www.randalls.com) for donating the food. We were able to deliver $500 in Home Depot gift cards that were generously donated by the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh (NC) to help the Casa families to recover from the impact of Hurricane Harvey.
Kiwanis Back to School Express
(moving donated school supplies from collection point to distribution point)
Kiwanis Sealy Fall Classic
(Fall bike ride for major charity fundraising project. Organized, scheduled, promoted and managed by our club's volunteers. Attended by several hundred riders and support staff.)
CCSC Jingle Bell Express 2016
Preparing for Christmas giving by moving toys and food supplies to ensure more than 900 families HAVE a Christmas. This year we had 34 Kiwanians, spouses, friends and Key Clubbers handle this project. A great job!
